PPC Matches: The PPC Outdoor Season runs from April through September, NRA 1500 Matches will be on the 3rd and 4th Saturday of each month, with registration beginning at 8:00 am. About PPC: PPC was started prior to W.W. II by the FBI and it was termed the Practical Pistol Course until 1959, then renamed to Police Pistol Combat. Two Indiana State Police Officers and a special agent for the FBI developed the course of fire for police officer training. Several years later the NRA picked up on it and developed the National Police Pistol Championship in Jackson, Mississippi. Today, the course is fired with a semi auto pistol or revolver at different positions ranging from standing, sitting, kneeling, prone, right hand barricade, and left hand barricade. Time limits range from 8 seconds to 2 minutes 45 seconds. This is a good way to learn marksmanship and become proficient with a handgun. Equipment required: Any center fire or rimfire double action revolver (or semi auto pistol), at least 4 revolver speedloaders (or 4 magazines), 48 to 258 rounds of ammunition, a strong side holster, eye and ear protection. This match is open to anyone who wants to participate.

Match course of fire for the NRA 1500 course:7 yards – Standing – 12 rounds – 20 seconds, 15 yards – Standing – 12 rounds – 20 seconds, 25 yards – 18 rounds fired in 90 seconds, Kneeling – 6 rounds,  L.H. barricade – 6 rounds, R.H. barricade – 6 rounds, 50 yards – 24 rounds – 2 minutes, 45 seconds, fired Sitting – 6 rounds, Prone – 6 rounds, L.H. barricade – 6 rounds, R.H. barricade – 6 rounds, 25 yards – Standing – 12 rounds – 35 seconds, repeat, Repeat 7 yards – 12 rounds, 25 yards – 18 rounds, 50 yards – 24 rounds, Finish at 25 yards – standing – 6 rounds – 12 seconds for a total of 150 rounds

Match course of fire for NRA 1200 course: 10 yards – Standing – 12 rounds – 20 seconds 25 yards – 18 rounds – 90 seconds Kneeling – 6 rounds, L.H. barricade – 6 rounds, R.H. barricade – 6 rounds 25 yards – Standing – 6 rounds – 12 seconds, 25 yards, (On reduced target simulating 50 yards) – 24 rounds – 2 minutes, 45 seconds Sitting – 6 rounds, Prone – 6 rounds, L.H. barricade – 6 rounds, R.H. barricade – 6 rounds. Repeat the entire course of fire for a total of 120 rounds.
